The 26th Cochrane Colloquium, Santiago 2019 call for abstracts and workshops is now open. This year’s theme is ‘Embracing diversity’, recognizing Cochrane as a truly global independent community, addressing relevant health questions from international stakeholders using a range of diverse methods.

In Cochrane we define ‘Knowledge Translation’ as the process of supporting the use of health evidence from Cochrane systematic reviews by those who need it to make health decisions.  We do this by involving evidence users in the production and dissemination of Cochrane evidence, sharing it in multiple and accessible formats, and working with decision makers to help them be able to use it in practice.

In 2016, the Cochrane Tobacco Addiction Group carried out a priority setting project (CTAG taps), funded by the NIHR School for Primary Care Research in the UK. Drawing on the opinions and experiences of members of the public, health professionals, healthcare commissioners, researchers, guideline developers and funders a clear message emerged- that there are still many unanswered research questions in the areas of tobacco use prevention, harm reduction and cessation.
