National Nutrition Month
Best Food Forward: Plan Shop Cook Enjoy!
Nutrition Month 2013 is dedicated to helping Canadians to put their best food forward when grocery shopping for healthy food. According to a 2012 study conducted by the Dietitians of Canada, 63 per cent of Canadians struggle with making healthier food choices in the grocery store at least half the time they shop; more than one third struggle at least 75 per cent of the time. The purpose of National Nutrition Month is to remind us of the importance of healthy eating and the positive impact nutrition has on our health and well-being.
The Dietitians of Canada has developed resources to help Canadians make healthier choices in the grocery store, such as:
- Ready-to-use fact sheets that feature tips to help consumers plan, shop and cook
- Eatipster, an i-Phone App that sends users a tip-a-day on the Nutrition Month theme
