The Cochrane Collaboration
Working together to provide the best evidence for health care
Job Advertisement: Executives Support Officer, Cochrane Editorial Unit
Organisation: Healthcare research, independent, international, not-for-profit
The Cochrane Collaboration is an independent, not-for-profit, research organisation. We believe that effective health care is created through equal partnerships between provider, practitioner, researcher and patient. We are looking to appoint an Administrative and Editorial Assistant who will be directly accountable to the Editor in Chief of The Cochrane Library and the Convenors of the three Cochrane Review Group (CRG) Executives. The core administrative component of the role will involve working closely with the convenors and members of the three CRG Executives, and liaising with the staff of the Cochrane Editorial Unit and the Cochrane Operations Unit.
The person: To be considered for this post, you should be educated at an undergraduate level or have equivalent vocational experience, with strong minute-taking and administrative skills. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and excellent communication skills are essential, as is an ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You would be expected to work to our high standards. This post is particularly suited to anyone with current or recent experience of working as a member of The Cochrane Collaboration and with knowledge of the operational working of the CRGs.
The location: The position will be based administratively at the Cochrane Editorial Unit, London, UK, and there will be some capacity for “hot-desking” in the office in London if needed. However this post is particularly well suited to remote or distance working using appropriate communication technologies, with supervision being shared by the Exec convenors and Editor in Chief or his representative.
Contract: 12 months in the first instance (fixed)
The hours: Part-time, flexible hours can be negotiated up to a maximum of 16 hours per week.
Salary: Interested candidates are invited to give an indication of the hourly rate they would expect to achieve.
