Heart Month aims to raise awareness in Canada about the risks of heart disease and stroke. It was first inspired by a fundraising initiative called Heart Sunday, which was adopted by Ontario in 1958. Heart Month is now a national fundraising campaign led by the Heart and Stroke Foundation to help Canadians lead longer and healthier lives. Throughout the month of February, volunteers will go door-to-door and raise money for research and initiatives that will help extend the lives of all Canadians.
"Today, heart disease and stroke take one life every seven minutes, and 90% of Canadians have at least one risk factor." – Heart and Stroke Foundation
