The Health Council of Canada has developed a four-part video series, Understanding Clinical Practice Guidelines: A Video Series Primer, which provides an overview of clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) in Canada through the lens of those who design, disseminate and use them.
CPGs are evidence-based recommendations that allow health care professionals to make better clinical decisions and deliver the best possible care. This video series is a helpful tool to further your knowledge of CPGs and learn how they are used, how they are implemented and the impact they can have on Canada’s health care system.
Understanding Clinical Practice Guidelines: A Video Series Primer features interviews with experts in evidence-based research and CPGs, including Dr Jeremy Grimshaw, Director of the Canadian Cochrane Centre and Co-Director of The Cochrane Collaboration Steering Group.
“We have very strong evidence that clinical practice guidelines can improve the quality of care and appropriateness of care, reduce the use of inappropriate tests or treatments and improve efficiency in health care.” - Dr Jeremy Grimshaw, Understanding Clinical Practice Guidelines: A Video Series Primer
The four-part series is available for viewing on the Health Council of Canada’s website.
