The Canadian Cochrane Centre held a Partners Forum on 19 November 2012 in Ottawa. Eighteen of 25 partner organization representatives, from across Canada, attended the one-day event. Representatives were updated about Cochrane activities and resources. Several examples of activities and collaborative projects in knowledge translation and training were highlighted by partner representatives and the Canadian Cochrane Centre staff. Information was provided using examples such as establishing and using Cochrane Corners, providing webinars to health care professionals on understanding and applying Cochrane evidence in practice, webinars and workshops about using Cochrane Systematic Reviews in mapping the cancer care continuum, Peer review training modules for dietitians, author training, and encouraging citizen engagement by using Cochrane evidence.
A brainstorming and discussion session provided an opportunity for partner organizations to speak about their knowledge translation and training needs. This dialogue assisted in matching organizational needs with the many Cochrane resources available. Committing to supporting a national license for The Cochrane Library, formalizing partnerships, and addressing ways to maintain regular continued contact and dialogue was agreed upon. Positive feedback from our partner representatives indicated the Canadian Cochrane Partners Forum laid a valuable foundation for future collaboration.
