The 2012 Journal Citation Report (JCR) has been released by Thomson ISI and the Impact Factor for the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (CDSR) is 5.703.*
Some highlights of the 2012 Impact Factor include:
- The CDSR is ranked 11 of the 151 journals in the Medicine, General & Internal category.
- The total number of times the CDSR was cited increased from 29,593 in 2011 to 34,230 meaning the CDSR receives the 6th highest number of citations in its category.
- The 5 year impact factor is 6.512, ranking the CDSR in the top 10 in the category.
- The total number of articles (new and updated reviews) was 1418 for this impact factor period versus the total of 1306 published reviews for the prior year’s impact factor. CDSR has one of the highest number of articles included in the impact factor calculation compared with other journals in the category.

*An error in the 2012 Impact Factor calculation has been detected and we will report this to Thomson ISI immediately. It is likely that a correction will be published in September 2013. The revised Impact Factor for CDSR is likely to be 5.772.
