CCC Advisory Board Member discusses celebrity impact on public health and highlights Cochrane as good source of independent scientific information

Timothy Caulfield, Canadian Cochrane Centre Advisory Board Member and Canada Research Chair in Health Law and Policy, recently spoke to the Edmonton Journal about the double mastectomy Angelina Jolie underwent and points out that many news report left out the crucial detail that the gene mutation that led to her decision to undergo surgery is relatively rare.

Caulfied remarked in the article, “I really think the most important thing a liberal democracy can do now is the supporting of good, independent scientific information,” while pointing out that The Cochrane Collaboration conducts independent reviews of healthcare studies.
