Cochrane Canada members,
I would like to take this opportunity to brief our membership on a couple of initiatives happening across the organization. In the past, the new year has typically coincided with increased efforts surrounding the planning and delivery of our annual international Symposium. This year, however, following careful consideration and deliberation, we have made the decision to forgo the Symposium, in an effort to dedicate our limited resources to planning Cochrane Colloquium 2020 in Toronto, Ontario.
To date, the Centre’s staff, in cooperation with personnel from Cochrane Central, has made significant progress in ensuring Cochrane Colloquium 2020 is a world-class event, as well as the ideal platform from which we can demonstrate to our global partners and colleagues our unwavering commitment to producing high-quality systematic reviews and other synthesized research evidence to inform health decision-making.
Finally, guided by the goals and principles set out in Cochrane’s Strategy 2020 document, particularly surrounding the needs and priorities of Cochrane’s contributor base, we will continue to build capacity through economically viable training and development opportunities, including workshops, seminars and webinars. We must continue to demonstrate to our current base, prospective contributors and future partners that we are an essential knowledge provider and the ‘go-to’ place for evidence to inform health decision-making. More details on upcoming training and development initiatives will be made available to you in the coming weeks.
